HOW TO KEEP YOUR NEW YEAR RESOLUTION FITNESS GOALS
With 2018 upon us we’re all motivated to change and be super fit and healthy. But what happens when the you’re well into the new year, and the novelty of training has worn off? Here are my top tips for staying motivated…
SET MEASURABLE GOALS
Don’t expect to change overnight. If your goal is to get down to a size 8 or drop 15 kilos, it won’t happen in a few weeks and it sometimes won’t happen in a few months. We’re all exposed to Instagram and everyone’s 4 week progress where they look like different people, but the fact is that you don’t know their circumstances. You don’t know if they actually did that in 4 weeks, You don’t know if they had a serious condition, you don’t know if they starved themselves, you don’t know if their before photo was from this year!
CHANGE IS EASY
It’s keeping the change that’s hard – I know it’s an effort to completely change your lifestyle and habits. It doesn’t happen in a few days, and you might find that after a few weeks you’re sick of meal prepping. Find ways to work things into your lifestyle. Not everyone can prep fresh each day, not everyone can do it twice a week. Don’t do what someone else does, do what’s going to work for you.
FIND A GOOD COACH
Being accountable to someone else makes all the difference. When you openly discuss goals and set them in the presence of someone else, they’re counting on you to achieve them as well.
BUY A NEW OUTFIT
It sounds silly and far too basic, but the amount of times I’ve had clients come in wearing new leggings and grinning from ear to ear because they’re excited to break the in.. it speaks for itself!
So you have a starting point -it’s easy to feel like you’re not making progress, but if you take photos and look at them a month later, it’s even easier to see that you have!
